Pub Crawl of town centre pubs with good beer gardens

Central Reading Beer Garden Crawl

If you’re looking for a good place to sit and drink outside in central Reading, this will take you on a tour of the best

This is not an inclusive list of all places with outside seating. I’ve excluded anywhere which simply has a few picnic tables on a main road. Sorry The Lyndhurst and The Greyfriars. Also, you should be able to see some greenery in my opinion. Sorry Phantom!

  • Start at The Nags Head, which has covered and uncovered tables
  • 7 minutes walk to Blue Collar Corner, voted the best beer garden in Reading
  • 1 minute walk to the Bouundary. Head out the back for some quiet tables
  • 1 minute walk to the Allied Arms for a pleasant beer garden
  • 1 minute walk to the Purple Turtle. Head out the back for their multi-level tiki-themed outside area
  • 4 minutes walk to Market House, where you’ll find a rooftop terrace. The terrace isn’t always open, so ask before ordering
  • 3 minutes walk to Veeno, which is more of a wine bar, but it does sell some mainstream beer, and the view over Forbury Gardens is great
  • 3 minutes walk to the Oakford Social Club (a regular pub, despite the name). Head out the back for a garden area
  • 2 minutes walk to the Three Guinneas, where you can sit outside and watch the world go by
